Avatars at the Flying Palace Stereographic panoramas of Angkor Cambodia

چکیده
EN) The paper documents the creation in 2004 of real-world stereographic panoramas at the UNESCO world heritage listed site Angkor, in Cambodia. The project builds upon the history of the panorama as a medium of virtual travel that has existed from the eighteenth century. The significance of the current project is the way in which real-world (as opposed to computer generated) stereographic panoramic scenes may be used in conjunction with augmented narratives and interactive device to enhance attributes of presence in virtual heritage applications. The Virtual Room at the Melbourne Museum provides a unique delivery platform for the material, and can distribute the Angkor panoramas at a real-world scale in stereographic and immersive setting. The paper gives an introduction to the potential to expand upon these images and embed additional contextual information and sound scapes to this environment—with powerful effect.

A Multiuser Multiperspective Stereographic QTVR Browser Complemented by Java3D Visualizer and Emulator
To support multiperspective and stereographic image display systems intended for multiuser applications, we have developed two integrated multiuser multiperspective stereographic “browsers,” respectively featuring IBR-generated egocentric and CG exocentric perspectives. The first one described, “VR4U2C” (‘virtual reality for you to see’), uses Apple’s QuickTime VR technology and the Java progra...
متن کاملIndoor Polar Panoramas Using a Rectified Lambert Azimuthal Equal-Area Projection
We present an algorithm for converting an indoor spherical panorama into a photograph with a simulated overhead view. The resulting image will have an extremely wide field of view covering 4π steradians of the spherical panorama. Our method provides the photographer the ability to shoot at the ground level and later post-process the pictures to get a fake bird’s eye view of the scene. We argue ...
متن کاملAn Indoor Alternative to Stereographic Spherical Panoramas
The stereographic projection is a popular method for viewing spherical panoramas because of its ability to represent the scene as a “little planet” with a simulated overhead view. However, the stereographic projection does not work well for indoor scenes. In this paper, we present a method for producing a counterpart to the stereographic projection for indoor scenes. The main innovation of our ...

متن کاملEnumeration of sulfur-oxidizing microorganisms on deteriorating stone of the angkor monuments, Cambodia.
Annual change in the density of sulfur-oxidizing microorganisms on sandstone was enumerated to know the effects on the deterioration of stone materials of the Angkor monuments in Cambodia. Samples were obtained from total 12 stations at the Angkor Wat, Bayon, and Phnom Krom temples between 1998 and 2007. Sulfur-oxidizing microorganisms enumerated in a mineral salts medium supplemented with elem...
